About The Wellness Marketers
We make it easy for anyone to create awesome WordPress websites
The Wellness Marketers brings together two things I have cared about for most of my life: health and wellness, and helping businesses make sense of marketing.
For more than 15 years, I have helped business owners improve their websites and online presence. Along the way, I found myself working with more and more wellness practitioners.
They were very good at helping people but many felt completely lost when it came to websites, Google, social media and now AI.
I created The Wellness Marketers for them. And perhaps for you too.
My goal isn’t to turn you into a marketing expert. It is to help you understand what matters, stop feeling overwhelmed and make better marketing decisions for your wellness business.
Why Wellness?
My interest in health and wellness started long before I became a digital marketer.
I studied biology for one year at university in Romania. My studies were interrupted when I fled the country, which was still under communist rule at the time.
I was very lucky that Canada accepted us as new immigrants. I enrolled in the Dietary Technician program at Langara College in Vancouver and later worked at Vancouver General Hospital and Mount Saint Joseph Hospital.
For a while, I had a full-time job, a part-time on-call job and a young—and very cute—daughter to raise.
What can I say? Sometimes the energy and enthusiasm of a young immigrant cannot be underestimated. 🙂
Life eventually took me to what felt like the “end of the earth” in northeastern British Columbia. There were very few opportunities to work in my field, so I went back to school and earned a diploma in Business and Computer Applications from Northern Lights College.
This was in 1996, so I had the good fortune to learn about computers and business systems when they were still fairly new. That knowledge still helps me understand how websites, technology and systems work today.
How I Became a Digital Marketer
After another major life change, I left British Columbia and moved to Calgary on my own with no job and not much money.
I found a job at Shell Canada’s head office and eventually became a Systems Analyst. Even though my career was now focused on business and technology, my interest in health and wellness never disappeared.
Eventually, I left Shell and started Effortless Marketing.
That was more than 15 years ago.
Because of my interest in complementary and holistic health, I naturally found myself working with more wellness businesses. As the business grew, I learned more about what wellness practitioners need from their marketing—and what they usually don’t have the time or desire to figure out themselves.
Some of those clients have stayed with our marketing company for many years. I am very grateful for that. I have learned a lot from them, and they helped me understand the wellness community from a business perspective too.
My Personal Interest in Wellness
Over the years, I have also completed Reiki Level I and Level II training and became certified in Access Bars.
I only practise these modalities on myself, close family and friends. They are more of a personal interest and a hobby for me, not how I make my living.
Digital marketing is what I truly love doing.
I especially enjoy helping wellness business owners create a website and online presence that work like a quiet salesperson in the background, helping the right people find them 24 hours a day.
